Enjoy, I did. Someone who agrees! http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/da...s-and-the-invisible-hand-of-the-1978-cutlass/
Good read! QOUTE>>> In many ways, the 1978 Cutlass Supreme is still superior to the modern Camcord. It’s easier to fix, it’s more spacious inside, and it possesses cleaner, more tasteful styling than any modern mid-sized car. If you can snag a drive in a solid example of any GM A-body, it’s worth doing. Same holds for a, my 83 Cutlass
Notice that he doesn't take any potshots at the Fairmonts. Actually there were 625,000 Fairmonts made from 1978 to 1983, and that doesn't include the Zephyr, Marquis, LTD some of which ran until 1986, et 1982 Cougar, Fox TBird from 1980 to 1983. But he was promoting GM, and he didn't deride Fairmonts. Good article.
I agree it was a good article. As a g-body (what the "A" chassis became in 1980, though it remained physically unchanged) owner and a fairmont owner (my dad is...), I'm quite happy too. Most of the comments are even positive, yet some of course must stir the pot for the most part they are shot down instantly. I cannot complain about my cutlass. For a car with no maintenance before I got it (20 years!) it took EVERYTHING I threw at it in stock form, and I was not easy on it. Though I did maintain it.
funny...he shoulda mentioned that...there is a buttload more a/g bodies around than Camaccords....and when was the last time you saw someone restoring a Camacord??....or drag racing ?..or lowriding?...or street machining?....(comparitivly i mean)....Im a Ford guy...and even i'll come to the defense of the a/g body's......
