Searching the ads through the site here for "70s" wagons and this caught my eye. I am not much of a Mopar fan, but this looked nice, so I clicked on it. Then I looked at the factory window sticker and noticed it was a dealer about 18 miles from here (now a Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Jaguar dealer now though)! Looked at location and the car is only 25 miles from me.... WOW, what an awesome car. I am not a Mopar fan, but this would look good in my driveway! Even has the original Tennessee title! Enjoy! :)

I think someone high up at Chrysler owned ah paint company in the late '60s and '70s and made 'um ah H***-ov-ah-deal on ah big batch ah green. Sure seams like it's lop sided on the surviver rate. My only issue with all '73s iz the bandaid 5 MPH crash fix with those grotesque rubber protrusions on both bumperz. YUCK, AND THEY ALL DID IT:taz: It's still ah keeper tho':2_thumbs_up_-_anima Jump on it! WAGONS-HO:tiphat:

I want that so bad.... I want another one.
Btw, you can just swap on the earlier bumperettes if you really wanted. Bumper looks the same as mine, and I have smaller little rubber bumperettes that look appropriate.

Well, if I had a choice, I would pick your wagon. I love the woodgrain wagons and yours is a rarity... dont see many of those with the woodgrain siding.

What I would not give to have a ride and drive wagon. I have been so frustrated with mine, I have really thought about selling it again or trading it off.

    Tony,

I haven't been around much lately. What's new with your '72 Kingswood?

Hi Bill. Me either... just every once and a while when I get the wagon blues. lol. Well the old Kingswood is still setting in the side driveway with rivercane growing up beside of it and a car cover that is covering 90% of it. I have had so much going on, I have not had time to mess with it. I placed a local classified ad to try to have a mechanic to come to my house to look at it (never was keen about having it hauled anywhere and I dont have much money these days, lol), but two guys were no-shows. Guess they dont need the money? Must be nice. lol. I did have a few call/message me with things they thought it could be... one said he thought my exhaust system might be clogged up and one said he thought my engine was losing compression, but we had already checked that. I guess next on our list is to try to get the exhaust loose 1/2 way back and see if that helps. Its been so hot this summer, I have not felt like messing with it. We have been at 100° several times this summer and the rest of this week and next looks to be about the same.

To be honest I am burned out on this car. It was my dream car and I have wanted to drive it so bad to the cruise, but here it is, 4 years later and I still cant drive it.

I recently found a mint 73 Caprice Estate on craigslist in CA for $3999 which is $1 less than I paid for this car and it kinda makes me feel sick ya know? I have thought about selling this one on several occasions and was offered $3000 for it once... guy is still interested, so I may do it and try to find another wagon thats already a driver- another clamshell or a Country Squire or Torino Squire. I know I will never own another big block Chevy again, this makes #2 I have had trouble with. I have had my 73 Pontiac Grand Ville with a 455 for almost 10 years now and that car has never gave me a problem, nor has any of the other big block early 70s GM cars (72 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, 72 Buick Electra and 71 Olds Toronado) I have owned. I have had several people tell me bad stories about the big block Chevy engines, but you would think they would be really good. Maybe they are, but I sure have ended up with 2 crappy ones. lol. I had a 400 small block in my old 71 Caprice sedan... good engine that was.

Well, thats all for now, I hope all has been good with you too... I bet its hot up that way too isnt it?

I didnt know you were not on here much since I hadnt been either. lol.

    Tony,

Yeah, way too hot here too. I know what you mean as I also have projects on "hold" till the weather gets cooler.

The offer still goes for my mechanic friend to check over your car, but I understand the effort to haul it about 3 hours up to here.

    Keep us posted.

    Bill

    Well I flattered. Thank you.
As for your car, I know you've been having a lot of issues with it but I think you should hold out and wait til you get a good mechanic. Once you finally find one, you should be set and your car should be a real nice one to drive. :)

Go to some local carshows and meet some people. You might just find someone to work on your car.

72King....marcar just made a good suggestion. Go to shows...preferably GM...and find guys that build stuff. You will likely find guys there that will tell you your problem and may even fix it. I wish I were closer to you...I find your problem both frustrating and challenging. I would love to mess with that car. It's still a damn nice car...I would hate to see you dump it if the problem is just something simple. If you want....PM me and give me the symptoms again....or direct me to the earlier posts that describe them well.
